There has been a lot of focus in the media recently about the environmental impact of the products we buy.
Sketchfolk is based in the coastal Cornish village of St Agnes and much of what we do is inspired by a love of nature and the ocean so it makes sense that using less plastic packaging and reducing our impact on the environment is something we have always held at our core.
-We use cardboard and biodegradable cello wraps to package our items.
-We don’t use plastic based glue for our books, they are stitched with cotton thread and filled with a luxurious recycled cartridge paper called ‘Flat White’ This paper is 100% recycled with 50% sourced from waste coffee cups.
-The books are made hand made here in St Agnes in a small studio space so they aren’t transported around the world.
-Our prints are printed on archival paper with chroma life inks because we want them to last!
Unfortunately we do use a couple of plastic based products…
If you want a print framed by us then for safety and postal reasons we use styrene glass. We used to use frames with traditional glass but despite our best efforts to wrap them safely they often arrived to their new owners broken! Our prints are standard paper sizes though so it should be straightforward to buy your own frame at home.
We also still use glue dots as part of the packaging on our notebooks. These aren’t ideal but we are working on it and want to phase them out, if you have any ideas get in touch. We are always open to improving what we do!
